Andy Coward is a Lancashire-based freelance transport journalist, writer and enthusiast. I have written for a number of specialist railway magazines, including RAIL, Todays Railways UK, Traction and Steam Railway.
Professionally, I work as a Controller for Metrolink RATP Dev Ltd. I am also the volunteer Editor of The Whistler, which is he quarterly magazine of the Class 40 Preservation Society. My main interests include local history and transport, primarily railways and light rail systems.
All books produced by me are done to raise funds for a good cause and are produced on a voluntary basis. So far locomotives 50050 Fearless and 86259 Les Ross have both benefitted financially from books produced by me and almost £5,000 was donated to the East Lancashire Railway Preservation Society and the East Lancashire Railway Holdings Company from profits generated by The Decline of British Railways in Bury and Rossendale.
Almost £3,000 has been donated from the sales of SUPERB to Bury Hospice, to support the vital work they do supporting people with end of life care in our local community. In the same theme, it is intended that any profits from the sales of An Illustrated History of the Midland Metro T69 Trams will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.
